Mr. Robert's contributions over the years to the community of Grand Bahama has evolved into a legacy.  His signature cigar and famous "Come on Down" will long be remembered.  In 2009 Mr. Robert's was the recipient of The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year Award...

Mr. Ervin Knowles, a former Cabinet Minister and Member of Parliament, has passed away at the age of 84 years.

Mr. Knowles was born in Nassau on May 17, 1934 to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Knowles.

He attended Eastern Junior and Senior schools, and St. John’s College in Nassau.

A building contractor and land developer, Mr. Knowles was first elected to Parliament in 1977 as a member of the Bahamian Democratic Party, but resigned from the party in June 1978...

Cabinet Office announces the sudden passing today of former Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister Bradley Roberts.

A noted and successful businessman, Bradley Roberts was dedicated to public life. He served for 40 years in the front line of politics, twenty-five as a Member of Parliament. He was dedicated to the Progressive Liberal Party, his political home, and up to his retirement from the front line in October 2017, was the National Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party.

He served as Minister of Works and Utilities and was also a former Minister of Immigration.  As well as being Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party, he was Deputy Chairman of the Bahamas Telecommunications Company..

Former Cabinet Minister and Progressive Liberal Party Chairman Bradley Roberts died today, the PLP has confirmed.

According to media reports he collapsed and was not able to be revived.

He was 74.

"He was sworn in as Minister of Works and Utilities on May 07, 2002 – five days after the PLP’s victory in the 2002 general election.  He captured the Bain and Grant’s Town House of Assembly seat in the balloting..."

Her Excellency, the Governor-General has been informed of the tragic death of Inspector Carlis Blatch, who has served as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) for the past four years. Her Excellency is deeply saddened by this event, inasmuch as Inspector Blatch worked very closely with her in all State matters.

The Governor-General particularly extends sincere sympathy to Mrs. Crystal Blatch and their children and wishes to assure them of her prayers during this time of their bereavement.

David Livingstone Johnson, formerly President of the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board passed away, quietly at Princess Margaret Hospital on Tuesday, August 14th, following a brief illness, at the age of 67.

Dedicated to the successful development of tourism in Grand Bahama, Mr. Johnson was influential in the decision to reposition the destination away from the commercial image of “Freeport” in the international marketplace replacing it with Grand Bahama Island.  The term he felt symbolized a multifaceted destination with historic seaside settlements, beaches and cays along with the modern amenities featuring golf, gaming, diving, fishing, soft adventures, shopping and nightlife.

The Cabinet Office announced today that an Official Funeral will be held for the late Mr. Phenton Neymour, former Cabinet Minister and Parliamentarian, on Thursday, 2nd August, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, George Street. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Gardens Cemetery, Soldier Road. 

Further, the body will lie-in-state in the foyer of the House of Assembly, Parliament Square, from 9:00 a. m. on Wednesday 1st August until the body departs for the church on Thursday, 2nd August, 2018...

President of The Bahamas Press Club 2014 Anthony Capron said it is with profound sadness, the organization notes the passing of Gina Morley, a faithful member and colleague. She died on Thursday, May 3, 2018.

Ms Morley was a former journalist who became an attorney and hosted the genealogy programme “Bahamian Bio” on Sunday nights at 7pm, and the “It’s The Law” legal tips, which aired at various times during the weekday lineup on Guardian Radio.
