The United Workers Party condemns the callous attempt by Philip J Pierre
and the Saint Lucia Labour Party to sow fear with the pensioners and
people of Saint Lucia by describing a Bridging Finance Facility entered
into with the NIC as a possible lack of credit worthiness of the
government of Saint Lucia.
This is blatant fear mongering and is
nothing unusual in terms of financing arrangements made between the
government of Saint Lucia and the NIC...
Youngest Tourism Association President demits office, highlights St. Lucia successes

The outgoing president of the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association
(SLHTA), and the youngest to date, expressed his appreciation to the
executive and membership of the trade association for their
accomplishments over the past two years.
In his final appearance
as president at yesterday's Annual General Meeting, Sanovnik Destang,
37, stated the collective work of the influential private sector body
contributed to the growth of tourism on the island, pointing to
statistics showing double-digit increases in stay-over arrivals and
expenditures in 2017, and similar advances in cruise arrivals.
2nd Batch of the CARICOM Disaster Relief Unit being trained in Barbados

The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency Coordinating Unit
(CDEMA CU) and the Regional Security System Headquarters (RSS HQ)
convened a second training workshop of the CARICOM Disaster Relief Unit
(CDRU) to serve the region during the period August 2018 to July 2019.
The training workshop is taking place from July 16 – 20, 2018, at the
Frank Walcott Labour College in St. Phillip, Barbados with funding
support from the United States Government through the US Southern
A first batch consisting 33 members of the CDRU was
trained in Antigua and Barbuda earlier this year in May, taking into
account a range of recommendations from the After Action Review
conducted on the Hurricanes of September last year...

On July 10th and 11th 2018, the Follow-up Mechanism to the Belém do Pará
Convention (MESECVI) and UN Women organized the second external
consultation of experts on femicide/feminicide in Port of Spain,
Trinidad and Tobago. The objective of the meeting was to advance the
consolidation of the draft "Comprehensive Model Law to prevent, punish,
and eradicate violent deaths of women based on their gender
(Femicide/Feminicide)" that is being prepared by the Committee of
Experts of the MESECVI.

Saint Lucia’s culinary attraction has been showcased on primetime
television in the United States. NBC6, Miami’s “In the Mix” program
featured Saint Lucian-born Chef, Shorne Benjamin, joining host, Johanna
Gomez live to prepare one of the island’s signature dishes – green fig
salad. Gomez was invited to assist in preparing the exotic, yet simple

Best practices for FAD Fisheries being finalized for Caribbean and Pacific SIDS

set of best practices for small-scale fisheries centered around Fish
Aggregating Devices (FADs) in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The
