are pleased to announce an exclusive partnership to coincide with CSA’s 42nd annual conference whose theme has been identified as — Knowledge and Culture Economies: The Future of Caribbean Development? — convening at the Melía Nassau Beach Hotel, June 5-9, 2017.

The NAGB and CSA will launch a competition to produce an original, Bahamian themed conference program booklet and banner competition within the Bahamian art and creative community. A partnership between technology-solutions company STEMBoard and DHL Express, the Solar Grand Challenge gives students throughout the Caribbean an opportunity to create portable, low-cost solar energy solutions. The broadcasting of these films also coincides with Sir Sidney Poitier’s birthday, which is on 20 February, when he will turn 89 years old.

To this end, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration wishes to invite all students from the public and private high schools to participate in an essay competition to commemorate this occasion.

For the first time, the national beauty competitions will incorporate an interactive Reality TV Series in which the viewing public will act as a judge, determining which contestants will move on to compete in the finale of the Miss World Bahamas and Miss Bahamas (Universe & Earth) competitions, set for July 24.

While this concept is new to The Bahamas, it is not new to pageantry worldwide. Several national competitions have already moved to the TV show format in an effort to reach a larger audience...
