MARSH HARBOUR, Abaco, The Bahamas -- Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie noted that if one closely examines the facts, one can demonstrate that Abaco has consistently delivered historical growth trends based on steady and methodical performance in both its air and boating sectors.

If we closely examine the facts we can demonstrate that Abaco has consistently delivered historical growth trends based on steady and methodical performance in both its air and boating sectors. In fact, it is one of only a handful of islands in our archipelago that has experienced a kind of robust, organic and measured multi-sector development delivering economic returns that are the envy of other destinations within The Bahamas and in the Region.

In the first half of this year Abaco experienced incremental growth in each of its top ten US markets which puts it on track to deliver solid returns for the full year 2016.

With over ninety-nine thousand visitors coming by air to the destination in 2015, Abaco is also one of only three islands in The Bahamas that was able to meet or exceed the region’s overall growth rate of seven (7.3) percent in foreign air arrivals last year...

Abaco, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, police in Abaco arrest a 40 year old male after he was found in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

Reports are that on Thursday 4th August 2016 shortly after 3:00am, officers while on mobile patrol in the area of S.C Bootle Highway, stopped and searched a 2001 Honda Accord with two male passengers, officers discovered on one of the male a .357 revolver along with (16) .357 rounds of ammunition. Reports are that on Saturday 11th June 2016,shortly before 1:00am, a male reported that while at a nightclub on Don McKay Boulevard, he was reportedly stabbed to the body several times by a male known to him. He was taken to the Marsh Harbour Clinic and was seen by doctor who listed his injuries as serious.The victim was flown to New Providence for further medical assistance...

Abaco, Bahamas - Police in Abaco are investigating the death of a 59 year old male of Cooper’s Town, Abaco, who was reported missing on Saturday 4th June 2016. On Monday 6th June 2016 shortly after 4:00pm, the 59 year old male was discovered in his vehicle in the Coconut Grove area off S.C Bootle Highway unresponsive.

Reports are that on Wednesday 20th April 2016 shortly before 2:00pm, officers of Operation Turf Sweep acting on information went to the Grand Bahama Highway in the area of the Grand Cay Boat Dock where officers discovered in a suitcase a quantity of suspected marijuana and cocaine. Florida based nonprofit Sharks4Kids teamed up with NC State PhD student Enie Buhler to visit schools around the island of Abaco. This three day education tour was made possible by a grant from the Save Our Seas Foundation and the team spoke to over 200 students ages 3-16.

Day one the team headed south and the first stop was in Sandy Point at James A. Pinder Primary School to speak to grades 4-6 and pre-K. This was followed by two presentations at Crossing Rocks Public School grades 1-6...

Abaco, Bahamas - Police in Abaco are reporting that on Thursday 10th March 2016, shortly before 7:00am, officers conducted a road check in the area of Fire Road and Stratton Drive, where a black Nissan Infiniti was stopped and a male passenger was discovered with a quantity of suspected marijuana in his possession. Abaco, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, on Saturday 5th March 2016, shortly after 11:00am, officers of Operation Cleanup, executed a search warrant at a residence in Central Pines, Abaco, where they arrested two males who were wanted by police for Causing Harm. They also discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. Both males were taken into police custody.

Abaco drug arrest, two in custody - Feb 24, 2016 - 5:06:04 PM

ABACO, Bahamas -  Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, on Tuesday 23rd February, officers of Operation Cleanup, while in Central Pine, Abaco, arrested a 25 year old male who was found in possession of dangerous drugs namely marijuana.

Officers then executed a search warrant on the suspects residence and discovered a quantity of marijuana and (1) imitation firearm.

Man in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco dead after collapsing at a party - Feb 21, 2016 - 7:47:22 PM

Abaco, Bahamas - Police are reporting that on Friday 20th February 2016 shortly before 10:00pm, a 38 year old male resident of Green Turtle Cay, while at a party at a business establishment, collapse and died.

He was later pronounced dead by the local doctor.

Police were called to the scene, investigation into this matter is ongoing.
