140 Haitian Nationals were taken into custody over the weekend - May 4, 2022 - 3:57:44 PM


On Sunday, 1st May 2022, at approximately 10:15 am, a group of seventy-eight (78) Haitian nationals were turned over to the Enforcement Unit, New Providence by officers of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF). Among this group were sixty-one (61) males, ten (10) females, and seven (7) minors.

The group of migrant was found onboard a sailing vessel and intercepted by the HMBS Madeira in waters near South Beach, New Providence...

During a courtesy call at the Office of the Governor General, on April 26, 2022, Deputy to the Governor General Cynthia Pratt received a presentation of a framed copy of “Desert Rose After the Rainstorm," by award-winning photographer Eric Rose.  The fine-art print is a part of his "Urban Beauty" series, that highlights natural beauty in urban communities throughout The Bahamas.

Over the years, Rose’s work in fine arts has been recognized both locally and internationally and has won him several awards. He most recently won the top award for Photography in the 2021 E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival.

Participants of the northern Bahamas trained to gather information for Census 2022 took the Oath of Secrecy on Monday, April 4, 2022 during their launch ceremony.  Census workers of Bimini, the Berry Islands and Abaco joined the 11 a.m. session preliminaries online.
