Buffalo will represent the Mid-American Conference and Charlotte will represent Conference USA as both institutions accepted bids to the 2019 Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl, set for Friday, Dec. 20 in Nassau’s Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.

Anglers across Florida converged in the settlement of West End, Grand Bahama on November 21 for the highly anticipated 3rd Annual Old Bahama Bay Wahoo Charity Cup. For participants, the event was a thrilling opportunity to sail the beautiful, boundless blue waters of Grand Bahama Island in hunt for wahoo large enough to earn them the competition’s top prize and, of course, bragging rights.

Minster of Youth, Sports and Culture the Hon. The 2019 Eddie Herr International Junior Competition has kicked off in Bradenton, Florida. Bahamian Khai Rhees is competing against some of the best in the Under 12 Boys Category. The event is organized by IMG Academy and welcomes over 2,000 junior tennis players from over 90 countries! This elite tournament attracts top talent in junior tennis and runs from November 26th through December 8th 2019.

Donte Armbrister and Jacobi Bain have also advanced in doubles and will play in the semifinals tomorrow for the opportunity to play in the finals...

Ms. Nyah Singh, put in a fine performance on Sunday past in the re-scheduled 2019 Royal Fidelity Junior Golf Open Championship at the Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island. Originally carded for Saturday November 9th, the event had to be put off because of the inclement weather that rolled in. 

The final tournament of the 2019 IC Winterbotham Junior Series was held at the YMCA courts in Freeport over this past weekend.

Tennis Is Serving Up Some Good Results as Bahamians Jacobi Bain(singles), Anthony Burrows Jr. and Ryan Fox(doubles)won today. Jacobi won convincingly in two sets. Bahamian duo, Burrows and Ryan would record the match of the tournament so far with a thrilling three setter against their opponents winning the match tiebreak 10-8.

bdG Sports, an international sports management company, announced today that the 2020 The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic will be moved to Royal Blue Golf Club at Baha Mar due to Hurricane Dorian’s impact on Great Abaco.

Michael Major Jr. was a finalist at the UTR Baha Mar Cup held this weekend. Michael faced Bahamians Missick in the Round of 16 and Rees in the Quarterfinals. He won 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively. He advanced to the semifinals to win over Saul 6-2, 6-1. In the finals he would face Blokhin from the United States losing 3-6, 2-6.

The inaugural White Sands Bahamas NCAA Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston and featuring some of the top collegiate golf teams in the United States, took place over  a six day period at Atlantis’ seaside championship Ocean Club Golf  Course on Paradise Island. The first-of-its-kind tournament fielded a total of 28 teams: 14 women’s teams competing firs,t from Oct. 28-30, followed by 14 men’s teams playing Nov. 1-3.

Ms Miranda Tucker, Student of St Augustines College, came out with the top score of 121 points in the recently concluded Neutrogena DCP Championships held at the BGF Golf Facility on Baillou Hill Road Sports Complex this past Saturday October 19th, 2019.

The inaugural White Sands Bahamas NCAA Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston and featuring some of the top collegiate golf teams in the United States began Monday at Atlantis, the lush ocean-side resort on Paradise Island.

Four Championship Matches will be held on Saturday morning where the best of the best in Senior Tennis will showcase their skills. After a weeklong of matches finalists emerged for the various divisions. On Saturday the victors will be crowned 2019 Senior National Champions!

The countdown to Grand Bahama’s premier triathlon event is on. Come November 2nd, international and local triathletes will put months of training to the test to compete in the annual Conchman Triathlon, despite damages sustained by Hurricane Dorian.

Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis announced the emergency evacuation of residents of the northern cays of Abaco to mainland Abaco, and urged residents of West End, East End and Sweeting’s Cay and Water’s Cay in Grand Bahama to move to the interior of the island.
