Buffalo will represent the Mid-American Conference and Charlotte will represent Conference USA as both institutions accepted bids to the 2019 Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl, set for Friday, Dec. 20 in Nassau’s Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.

Anglers across Florida converged in the settlement of West End, Grand Bahama on November 21 for the highly anticipated 3rd Annual Old Bahama Bay Wahoo Charity Cup. For participants, the event was a thrilling opportunity to sail the beautiful, boundless blue waters of Grand Bahama Island in hunt for wahoo large enough to earn them the competition’s top prize and, of course, bragging rights.

The 2019 Eddie Herr International Junior Competition has kicked off in Bradenton, Florida. Bahamian Khai Rhees is competing against some of the best in the Under 12 Boys Category. The event is organized by IMG Academy and welcomes over 2,000 junior tennis players from over 90 countries! This elite tournament attracts top talent in junior tennis and runs from November 26th through December 8th 2019.

Ms. Nyah Singh, put in a fine performance on Sunday past in the re-scheduled 2019 Royal Fidelity Junior Golf Open Championship at the Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island. Originally carded for Saturday November 9th, the event had to be put off because of the inclement weather that rolled in. 

The 16yr old student of Bahamas Global Academy, topped a field of 33 juniors with the days’ low score of 79, 2nd and 3rd place were Judah Lloyd with a score of 81 and Heathcliff Kane with a score of 82, respectively...

Michael Major Jr. was a finalist at the UTR Baha Mar Cup held this weekend. Michael faced Bahamians Missick in the Round of 16 and Rees in the Quarterfinals. He won 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively. He advanced to the semifinals to win over Saul 6-2, 6-1. In the finals he would face Blokhin from the United States losing 3-6, 2-6.

The inaugural White Sands Bahamas NCAA Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston and featuring some of the top collegiate golf teams in the United States, took place over  a six day period at Atlantis’ seaside championship Ocean Club Golf  Course on Paradise Island. The first-of-its-kind tournament fielded a total of 28 teams: 14 women’s teams competing firs,t from Oct. 28-30, followed by 14 men’s teams playing Nov. 1-3.

As a kick off to the event on Saturday, Oct. 26, the women’s teams were hosted to a welcome dinner and a day of practice before the tournament proper.
