Attending a fund
raiser in Nassau recently I had no idea that my attendance there would
have such an effect on the monies raised that night toward the medical
expenses of 23 year old Gavin Skolnick. Gavin, born to parents Harvey
& Dianne (from Nassau) attended St. Andrews School and then
transferred to St. Andrews College in Aurora, Ontario in grade 10. He
later graduated and was accepted at the University of Kent to study law.
Gavin graduated with an LLB in 2005. Taking a sabbatical while he
decided where to pursue his Masters, he was diagnosed with stage...

Leaving The Bahamas recently I was excited to be on my way to get a break from island life, when I was abruptly awakened from my pleasant state. It was not the rushed teary goodbye with my four children. It was not the pink chewing gum I sat on (in black pants!) when I had to take a shuttle from one terminal to the next in Fort Lauderdale. Nor was it the three security checkpoints I had to go the fifty yards or so to exit The Bahamas.

Smoke Signals were the first means of communication prior to the wire. Native Americans and the Chinese were the first to use smoke signals which enabled them to communicate from a distance. From there we went to the ingenious telegraph wire, and after that onto the telephone. But nothing can compare to today’s computer technology as the fastest, most efficient and economical means of distance communication.
