President of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce.

annual election of officers and directors were held at Ruby Swiss
yesterday.
John Swain, the
former first vice president went uncontested and was instated as
president, taking the reigns from former president, Peter Turnquest, who

Bahama – Sarah MacDonald, President & CEO of Grand Bahama Power
Company spent part of her second week at the helm meeting members of
the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday. MacDonald,
who was making good on a promise to speak at the Chamber, took the time
to give the filled room her take on events since her arrival on island.
Noting that protestors
and a Category 3 Hurricane heralded her arrival she felt she had been
on a lightning speed learning curve about GBPC. “The hurricane
allowed me to work along with my staff and I must say I was impressed
with their work efforts and their care to get the customers back on
line.”

new companies were installed into this organization. Joining were
Terreve College, Better Care Janitorial, Blade, and Parriswhittaker Law
Firm.
During the meeting renowned Bahamian architect/poet/writer Patrick
Rahming was the speaker addressing the topic The Branding of Freeport:
You Can't Market What You Don't Have. He told the room of business persons that he and two others are
presently looking at bringing to Grand Bahama a new attraction for which
they are hoping to get the community to invest in....

The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) is
eager to move forward with the next phase of its economic plan and is
looking forward to having maximum cooperation from the public in that
venture, officials say.
Following months of consultation with the public, the GBCC's Economic
Development Committee will present what it has determined to be the
main obstacles to economic growth on the island during a summit on
Friday, June 10.
The event will be held at the Pelican Bay Hotel from 9:00 a.m. -12 noon and is free to members of the public...
