On March 9, 2019, the local chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority will
unite with its members globally, to simultaneously host the annual Youth
Symposium. The Symposium is just one initiative of the sorority’s
national signature program, Project Reassurance, which has incorporated
the theme of “H3: It’s All About Me – Healthy Choices, Healthy Living,
Healthy Generations. The sorority received a signed proclamation by the

34th Annual HSGB Dog Show takes place Saturday, March 2 - Feb 27, 2019 - 9:30:19 AM
The 34 annual Humane Society of Grand Bahama (HSGB) Dog Show will take
place on Saturday, March 2 from 12:30 to 4:30 pm at the Humane Society
Grounds on Coral Road.
Some of the categories have been changed
and they have combined a few. There will be fun stuff for kids,
including face painting and cotton candy.

Tourism conducted a Mangrove Cleanup in West End, Grand Bahama Island in
honour of World Wetlands Day. Eco Heroes, students from West End
Primary, Freeport Gospel Chapel School (Eco School) and LIS (Lucaya
International School) (Eco School) gathered to clean mangroves in West
End in honour of World Wetlands Day 2019. The international theme for
World Wetlands Day 2019 is “Wetlands and climate change We are not

Thirty five years ago, four industrious young women had the vision and
desire to form an alumnae chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority,
Incorporated on Grand Bahama. Each having graduated from universities in
the United States, these women returned home to Grand Bahama eager to
enhance the quality of life for women and their families in The Bahamas
and globally through community service, civil and social action. On
January 22, 1984, the Southeast Regional Syntaktes Helen J. Owens, who
would later become the 20th International Grand Basileus of Sigma Gamma
Rho, officiated the chartering of the first Greek-letter sorority on
Grand Bahama in the Grand Ball Room of the Bahamas Princess Hotel...

Day" event on October 6th where more than 17000 birders in 146 countries
observed 6136 species of birds during a 24 hour period. This number
represented more than half of the world's species and was the highest
