Commander Defence Force, Commodore Tellis Bethel and the RBDF’S Executive Command team extends Bravo Zulu to Sub Lieutenant Preston Major, who received his Bridgewatch Keeping Certificate.

The young Officer, who currently serves on HMBS Rolly Gray as the Navigating Officer, is now officially qualified to be an Officer of the Watch on any Royal Bahamas Defence Force craft. At a Special sitting of Magistrate Courts on Friday past at the Remand Centre at the Department of Correctional Services, 46 Dominicans changed their Pleas from "Not Guilty" to that of "guilty" on charges related to illegal fishing in Bahamian waters.

The Dominican nationals received were previously charged before the courts on July 12 after they were apprehended by HMBS Madeira for poaching in the southern Bahamas. At that time, they pleaded "not guilty" to numerous charges totaling over $3 million dollars, namely...

The Retail Grocers Association and the Manufacturers’ Agents and Wholesalers Association have been instrumental in coordinating with businesses to facilitate the transition. Coral Harbour Base, (RBDF): The Royal Bahamas Defence Force tracked and recovered a stolen vessel earlier this morning.

After receiving information from the Lyford Cay Security of a 21-ft blue and white open-hull pleasure craft being stolen from the Lyford Cay Marina around 3:00 a.m. this morning, a search was immediately conducted by Marines from the Defence Force Commando Squadron.

The search and recovery exercise later became a joint operation when the Royal Bahamas Police Force informed the Defence Force of the craft's location in the Seabreeze area. The Marines, aided by the Defence Force’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), were then deployed to the area...

Approximately 20 Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Rangers cadets are better prepared with fundamental skills after successfully completing phase 1 of the Journalism Course at the RBDF Rangers Summer Camp in Grand Bahama.

Coral Harbour Base (RBDF): A US Coast Guard OPBAT helicopter spotted 6 Haitian migrants on the North shore of Inagua earlier this morning. Those migrants were airlifted to Matthew Town. Several additional migrants were found in the nearby bushes by the local community and law enforcement agencies, and Royal Bahamas Defence Force personnel following a combined search of the island.

The migrants have all been turned over to Immigration officials for further questioning. An ongoing search for additional migrants is currently taking place. It is estimated that 120 may have landed.

A total of 46 Haitian migrants were charged before the courts in Nassau after they were apprehended in Bahamian waters on Tuesday past by members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

The migrants, (38 males, 8 females) all pleaded guilty to illegal landing before Magistrate Carolyn Evans on Thursday.

Two of the migrants were repeat offenders, and were sentenced to The Bahamas Department of Corrections. Alliance Alcy will serve 3 months in jail and Sherline Myrtil will serve 6 months...

It was an historic day on the island of Long Island, as 54 students were inducted into the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s (RBDF) Rangers Program, following a Passing out Parade ceremony.

The students represented the 2 high schools on the island, namely; the N. G. M. Major High in Deadmans’s Cay and the North Long Island High School in Simms. This latest addition in Long Island brings the total to 23 schools in New Providence and 22 schools in the Family Islands. The Rangers programme, which has been in existence since 1995 in the capital, has since expanded to include 6 Family Islands...
