Dominican Poachers receive over $3 Million in fines

At a Special sitting of Magistrate Courts on Friday past at the Remand
Centre at the Department of Correctional Services, 46 Dominicans changed
their Pleas from "Not Guilty" to that of "guilty" on charges related to
illegal fishing in Bahamian waters.
The Dominican nationals
received were previously charged before the courts on July 12 after they
were apprehended by HMBS Madeira for poaching in the southern Bahamas.
At that time, they pleaded "not guilty" to numerous charges totaling
over $3 million dollars, namely...

Migrants Apprehended in Inagua

Coral Harbour Base (RBDF): A US Coast Guard OPBAT
helicopter spotted 6 Haitian migrants on the North shore of Inagua
earlier this morning. Those migrants were airlifted to Matthew Town.
Several additional migrants were found in the nearby bushes by the local
community and law enforcement agencies, and Royal Bahamas Defence Force
personnel following a combined search of the island.
The migrants have all been turned over to Immigration officials for
further questioning. An ongoing search for additional migrants is
currently taking place. It is estimated that 120 may have landed.

vessel with fishery products onboard on Friday afternoon within the
Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park.

A total of 46 Haitian migrants were charged before the courts in Nassau
after they were apprehended in Bahamian waters on Tuesday past by
