RBDF apprehends male with stolen goods - Nov 21, 2019 - 5:00:33 PM
A male adult was apprehended by the Operations Team of the Royal
Bahamas Defence Force in Abaco Wednesday evening after stolen goods was
found in his home.
During a routine search patrol and search by
the team of RBDF Marines in Coopers Town, an assortment of suspected
stolen goods ranging from house appliances, groceries and vehicle tire
and other car parts were discovered in his house...

Airport Stakeholders meet ahead of busy Thanksgiving Weekend - Nov 20, 2019 - 3:29:18 PM
This week, stakeholders at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA)
will meet to finalize plans for managing increased traffic over the
upcoming holiday period. Officials estimate some 90,000 passengers will
move through LPIA’s three terminals between Wednesday November 27th and
Monday December 2nd as the peak travel season kicks off with American

Senior enlisted assists comrade through community effort - Nov 20, 2019 - 10:05:16 AM
The Warrant Officers and Senior Rates (WOSR) of the Royal Bahamas
Defence Force recently came together to lend a helping hand to one of
its own on November 16th.
Coordinated by the Executive Team of
the WOSR Mess, the marines went to the home of Chief Petty Officer
Jonathan Evans and showed their support by providing landscape
maintenance. They assisted in the cutting down of overgrown lawn and
hedges, removal of debris, downed trees and branches from around the

On today’s date, (85) adult Males and (31) adult Females are expected to
appear before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes to face charges of
Illegal Entry. Vonetta Darling-Flowers, Senior Immigration Officer will
be prosecuting this matter. This group was detected on November 12, 2019, by Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos
(OPBAT)
while on a routine patrol in waters on the southeastern end of Great

Fire Aboard Captured Craft - Nov 18, 2019 - 9:30:09 AM
Firefighters from the Police Department were called to the Royal
Bahamas Defence Force base late Sunday night to assist in extinguishing a
fire onboard a captured craft.
The isolated
fire was discovered by RBDF Marines during the conduct of a routine
round of the Base. They attempted to extinguish the blaze, however, the
fire was too big to contain. The fire was eventually brought under
control with no injuries...

Haitian Migrants Apprehended - Nov 13, 2019 - 5:34:20 PM
Shortly after 9:00 pm Tuesday an Operations Turks and Caicos (OPBAT)
helo, while on routine patrol detected a number of persons on the south
eastern end of Inagua.
On closer inspection, a 30-ft. wooden low
profile Haitian migrant vessel with 10 persons onboard was also
discovered. Checks along the coastline and nearby bushes uncovered over
80 individuals believed to be Haitian migrants...

Defence Force personnel were deployed to the islands of Grand Bahama and
Abaco to assist local authorities and communities in preparation for

RBDF Apprehends Haitian Migrants - Nov 10, 2019 - 7:50:49 PM
A total of 58 undocumented Haitian migrants arrived at the Defence Force
base shortly after 2:30 pm on Saturday after they were apprehended on
Friday November 8th.
The migrants (52 males, 6 females) were
caught near Deadman's Cay, Long Island aboard a 40-ft sloop during a
joint effort by members of Royal Bahamas Defence and Police Forces and
local fishermen

A total of 60 undocumented Haitian migrants are on the way to the
capital after they were apprehended aboard a 40-ft. Haitian sailing

Government House by members of the British Legion-Bahamas Branch (BLBB)

New Deputy Commander Defence Force Appointment - Oct 20, 2019 - 5:00:42 PM
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force
announces the appointment of a new Deputy Commander Defence Force. Only
the third person to hold this position, Captain Raymond King’s
appointment took effect from 7th October 2019.
Captain King has been a stalwart member of the Force since his
enlistment in January 1987. He served onboard HMBS Exuma and David
Tucker initially, before accepting an appointment as Midshipman, making
the transition from Marine to Naval Officer in November 1989. He
completed his Naval Officer training at the Britannia Royal Naval
College, Dartmouth, England graduating with a First-Class Pass; and
subsequently receiving his commission in 1992.
His more than three decades of service has allowed him to garner
extensive organizational leadership and managerial skills inclusive of
education...
