Abaconians hope TCL Group’s 15th Annual Abaco Business Outlook (ABO) will allow them to “come, learn and connect.” The forum will take place on Thursday September 20, 2018 at the Abaco Beach Resort.

ABO aims to connect local and external industry experts with stakeholders in a conducive space, where all participating parties can discuss issues plaguing the island, and identify opportunities for economic growth.  Among the subjects under consideration will be the island’s economic challenges which currently include a decrease in airlift and high unemployment numbers.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources, Michael Pintard...

The Bahamas Marine Mammal Research Organisation (BMMRO) responded to the report of a live stranded pilot whale on August 23rd on the beach just north of Crossing Rocks, Abaco. 

With the help of Crossing Rocks community members, BMMRO’s team was able to push the 11-foot young adult female whale back out to sea but had to hold it upright so that it did not drown. Two sharks patrolled nearby. During the rescue, BMMRO scientist Dr. Diane Claridge discovered a 3-foot long and 3-inch deep cut on the whale’s underside, deep enough to have cut into the muscle...

Reports are that on Friday 8th June 2018, shortly before 10:00am, an American male was arrested by police while at the Leonard .M. Thompson International Airport for possession of dangerous drugs. He was arraigned before the Marsh Harbor Stipendiary and Circuit Magistrate Ancella Evans, pleaded guilty to the charge, was fined $300 and deported back to the United States of America...

Police in Abaco took into custody a 24 year old male of the Mudd, Abaco, after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Police in Abaco are investigating an apparent drowning on Guana Cay of a 72 year old male.

Reports are that on Tuesday 30th May 2018, shortly after 4:00pm, police received a report that two males on a 44 ft. vessel, were swimming in the area of Bakers Bay dock on Guana Cay, when the other male was discovered floating in waters. CPR was rendered but the male victim never regained consciousness...

Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Hubert A. Minnis, centre, leads a high level delegation of Cabinet Ministers and Government officials to Abaco for a full assessment on yesterday's fire in the Mud settlement that has destroyed an estimated 55 structures, displacing some 150 persons.  There were no major injuries reported. The Department of Social Services and the Red Cross are providing assistance.
