PROVIDENCIALES, Turks & Caicos
Islands, Monday, August 26th, 2014 – Flight operations at Providenciales
Airport resume normal operations following the passage of tropical
storm Cristobal. The storm’s passage though the Turks and Caicos Islands
left a trail of cancelled flights due to its impact on the islands.
Flight operations at Providenciales International Airport were
suspended since Sunday due to heavy rain, strong winds, low visibility
and cloud ceiling. These prevented safe operations into the country’s
main port of entry.
Commenting on the suspended flight operation, Airport Authority’s CEO
John Smith said “we remain committed to public safety and are happy to
resume flight operations now that conditions are favorable to fly.”
The board and management of the Airports Authority apologize for any
inconvenience caused and wish to thank the public for their patience and
cooperation during one of nature’s most ferocious events.
