TURKS & CAICOS - The Ministry of Government Support Services (GSS) has advised that members of staff of the Providenciales Post Office are currently working out of the Public Works Department, Butterfield Square while their temporary location is retrofitted for occupancy.

The Ministry advised further, that from 2:00pm today February 6, 2014, the public should be able to purchase stamps and access other services at the Post Office’s temporary home: Suite 1010, 23 Parade Avenue, Town Centre Mall, in the vicinity of the Government Treasury in Downtown Providenciales.  The post boxes at the current location will not be affected and will remain accessible to holders.

Senior GSS Staff including the Permanent Secretary Mr. Ian Astwood and Deputy Secretary Mr. Russell Cox are currently on the ground dealing with the matter.

The Ministry also noted that plans are well underway for a longer-term solution, as a property that is suitable for accommodating both staff and the post boxes has already been identified, and that GSS is currently working with the prospective landlords on this initiative.

Acting Governor Hon. Anya Williams, head of the TCI Public Service and Acting Premier Hon. Akierra Missick who is currently acting for the GSS Minister are scheduled to meet with the staff on Friday February 7, 201 to discuss their concerns. A media briefing is also scheduled after the meeting.
