Nassau, Bahamas - The Pro Gallery will be launching "33: 'til now",  a retrospective exhibition focusing on the life, work and thoughts of Bahamian artist, writer and educator Keisha Oliver. The show opens to the public on Thursday, April 13th 2017 from 6:00 – 9:00pm at the University of The Bahamas’ Oakes Field campus, Nassau, Bahamas.

Oliver’s love for collecting is translated through a body of work both personal and reflective that offer an auto-biographical conversation and testimony of her thoughts on the little things we often take for granted. Cherished objects are re-imagined through the visual and literary art forms as she is seen challenging the definition and boundaries of herself as an artist. Pushing her artistic practice into unfamiliar territories of poetry and print-making the work reveals intimate and compelling connections on storytelling through text, image and object.

Keisha's multidisciplinary art practice often considers discarded objects and the environment to explore themes of social heritage and cultural fragmentation. Much of her recent work uses photography to document the social and physical Bahamian landscape and cultural experiences while challenging notions of beauty and value. She has exhibited in the Caribbean, USA, UK and Asia. Oliver is an Assistant Professor and Visual Arts Programme Coordinator at the University of The Bahamas with research interests in visual literacy for critical thinking and Bahamian art history. She also works with community and creative organisations as a curator and art director.
