From:TheBahamasWeekly.com Arts & Culture The students of the Bahamas Dance Theatre spent months preparing themselves for their final product and their moment to shine on stage! With over 160 participants ranging from age 3 to 24, the students were taught technique and dance styles ranging from modern ballet to hip hop dance with music from the Flintstones, Batman and The Wizard of Oz to the styles of Phil Collins, Madonna and Lady Gaga to entertain the variety of audience that attended. Hosted by radio personality and entertainer Alexis Pelecanos, “Evolution of Dance” took you through the eras of time; a journey to the past, present and future displaying the growth and development of dance throughout the years. With the beautiful choreography of Roslyn Collie & Patrinella Malcolm (both Point Park University Graduates) the unique and expressive styles of Jullion Collie (Artistic Director of BDT and show group the New Wave Dancers) and rising stars Stephan Cartwright, Robyn Major and Jorrell Dames drew on variations of ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical and modern dance all set to music and dance through the eras of time and space.
