Freeport, GB  – The Bahamas Dance Theatre proudly presents their 18th anniversary dance performance entitled, “Evolution of Dance” Saturday June 28 at 7:00pm and Sunday June 29 at 5:00pm at the Regency Theatre.

It's that time of year again; the glitz, the glamour, the makeup and the costumes! The students of the Bahamas Dance Theatre have spent the last few months preparing themselves and building up their moment to shine on stage!

This year’s show, which is hosted by Radio Personality and Entertainer Alexis Pelecanos, takes you through the eras of time; a journey to the past, present and future displaying the growth and development of dance throughout the years.

Roslyn Collie, who defined the true meaning of dance back in 1985 and created one of the most innovative and original schools in the Bahamas today, says, “be prepared to be mesmerized by the costumes, choreographies and students as they bring to you the hottest, most anticipated performance for the summer! The choreographers and student-teachers have outdone themselves this year. ”

With the expressive movements and beautiful choreography of Roslyn Collie & (new member of the BDT team) Patrinella Malcolm (both Point Park University Graduates) the unique and expressive styles of Jullion Collie, Artistic Director of BDT and show group the New Wave Dancers; and rising stars Stephan Cartwright, Robyn Major and Jorrell Dames draw on variations of ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical and modern dance all set to music and dance through the eras of time and space.

Over 160 participants ranging from age 4 to 24 invite you to enjoy two fabulous nights of entertainment to celebrate their achievements, hard work and dedication in the art of dance. This year’s recital is the peak of four months of preparation. All the students were taught technique and dance styles ranging from modern ballet to hip hop dance with music from the Flintstones, Batman and The Wizard of Oz to the styles of Phil Collins, Madonna and Lady Gaga to entertain the variety of audience who attends each and every year.

Among those also scheduled to perform in the Evolution of Dance are the New Wave Dancers, Dominion Technical Primary School and X-clusiv Crew. And to add punch to the recital, the Awards and Scholarship Presentation follow thereafter.

If you haven’t seen one of Bahamas Dance Theatre’s exciting and entertaining performances, now’s the time to grab some tickets! Tickets are $25 and are sold at the Bahamas Dance Theatre on West Atlantic Drive (Next door to Ruby Swiss)
