NASSAU, Bahamas — There is going to be a big Bahamas praise party in
Coconut Grove on Labour Day – and it’s not the Coconut Grove where St.
Cecelia’s Catholic School, Palm Tree Supermarket and Kye’s are located.
No, not that one – not yet. Marlin and Cacique Award winner
Vanessa Clarke along with Shauna Joseph, who was a nominee of both
awards several years ago, are taking this Bahamas Gospel Party to
Coconut Grove, Florida for the big Bahamas
Goombay
Festival
celebration
on June 4th. It is where they will launch their new CD “Bahamas Gospel
Party” and start a real praise party in the USA. It is there where
Bahamian Americans will get a taste of Junkanoo, a taste of Rake and
Scrape but more importantly, they will be reminded of what a real
Bahamian praise experience is all about!
Executive producer and songwriter, Rev. Clinton Minnis, who is also
the President of the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship youth Department, is
on a mission to promote the gospel of Christ but he feels that The
Bahamas has so much to offer through its cultural expressions in music.
The project is produced by Bahamian cultural Giant-Colyn Mcdonald. “The
gospel world needs a party and it will start with the release of the
Bahamas Gospel Party,” he said. “This is an attempt to take indigenous
Bahamian music with a contemporary flavor to celebrate the King of
Kings, our Lord Jesus Christ.”
This project has been the brainchild of Rev. Minnis and his group,
the Annoo Association for many years and they are excited that their
vision has finally come to the light. “The project has been on the back
burner for several years for the perfect voices and timing. Vanessa and
Shauna are a wonderful mix of fun and seriousness about their faith
and culture. I am so happy that we just can’t stop the party!! We want
to invite our family, friends, colleagues, supporters and the church at
large to experience the party of a lifetime,” he said.
“Get ready for a summer, fall, winter and spring you will never
forget. “The songs Hold Ya Head & Stomp Ya Feet & Anoo To Do
will add life to the spirits of all believers and help us to be free to
worship God without inhibitions.”
The newly formed group, Eboni which features five beautiful young
ladies from the Ebenezer Baptist Church will also be featured at the
Goombay Festival. The members of Eboni are: Kenya Ferguson, Natasha
Lewis, Natasha Johnson, Sharine Symonette and Gina Ferguson. The group
will be releasing their CD single, No Other Name!
While in Miami, Vanessa and Shauna along with Eboni, will also
perform at the Caribbean Cultural and Heritage Festival in Miami Gardens
on June 5th and minister to several Florida churches on June 6th. The
duo also has plans to release the Bahamas Gospel Party cd in Nassau on
July 2nd.
Rev. Minnis concluded, “Please pray for God’s favor upon us and for
open doors to take Gospel Music to the world.”
