Freeport Players’ Guild’s 20th Anniversary Production of “Grease”

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama Island - The ever passionate director Liselle Harris made the 1950s come alive as Freeport Players’ Guild’s 20th Anniversary Production of “Grease” was staged at the Regency Theatre Friday, November 29th, Saturday, November 30th and Sunday December 1st. Ms. Harris, a member of the Freeport Players Guild since 1974 said, “Show business is not a business to me but a “passion”. Liselle has been in far too many shows to count and discovered Directing after several years of starring roles. Immediately prior to Grease, Liselle directed Alice in Wonderland and Pippa, both of which won several Twirp Awards.

The Musical Director was Gloria McGlone, a powerhouse of energy. Gloria has a wealth of experience on Broadway and all over the stages of the world where she performed for many years. She has performed with Harry Belafonte, Alvin Ailey, Duke Ellington, Sammy Davis Jr., Ella Fitzgerald, Pearl Bailey and Barry Manilow, to name a few. The Producers were Kimberly Anthony and Reggie Simmons. The Stage Manager was Christopher Russell. Sean Thompson handled lights and Raven Nesbitt controlled the Sound. Theatre veteran, Annie Roberts was in charge of Properties.

“Danny Zuko” was played by Ramon Webb. Ramon’s first role was the Gryphon in Alice in Wonderland. The character of “Sandy Dumbrowski” was played by Autumn-Joy Dames, no stranger to the Regency Theatre stage and a regular on television. Kerel Pinder became “Rizzo”, singing her tributes to Sandra Dee. Rizzo’s love interest, “Kenickie” was played by Andre Sturrup. Sturrup also was the Dodo in Alice in Wonderland. Pink haired Frenchie was portrayed by Marlena Leonard. Marlena was Carmen in the recent production of Fame. Jan was played by Rebecca Harris. Marty was portayed by Angel Russell.Vilma Dann and Tiffany Dennison brought over 30 years of makeup experience to the production. Tiffany has been a proud member of the Freeport Players Guild since age 9, has been an actress and director at various times. She has been involved in make up at the Theatre attending to every Guild production for the past 15 years. The Makeup Department included Barb Parotti, Sarah Stretton and Sophia Micah Clarke.

The audiences were treated to classic numbers such as Greased Lightning, Beauty School Dropout, Sandra Dee, Hopelessly devoted to You and Summer Nights among others. There was even a flying angel portrayed by Prestine Freguson in the Beauty School Dropout scene.

Set Design and Choreography were done by Director Liselle Harris and Martina Geiger. Martina designed the 50s period costumes. Her European background in modeling and high end fashion brought the Greasers and the Pink Ladies to life.

The talents of the Grease Cast also included Abi Beaumont as Principal Lynch, Demetria Sherman as Patty, Gabriel Lopez as Eugene, Patrick Forbes as Vince Fontaine, Rouen Robinson as Johnny Casino, Alicia Ritchie as Cha Cha DiGregorio, Alfred Anderson-Lewis as Doody, Antonio Smith as Sonny, Evan Williams as Rump, Antonio Guarro as Frankie Avalon, Keno Ignace, Laura Miller, Lesley Rolle, Carla Hanna-Wilson, Leah Missick, Payton Lockhart, Balwin Newbold, Emrinique Seymour, Candice Woon, Dolton Richardson, Maxwell Gauthier, Stephan Griffin, Brittany Rolle, Charlize Wilson, Tiara Brown, Cameron Pennington, Keulin Seymour, Ciaro Moxey, Sandra Lopez,Sue McCrea, Noella Anderson, Elizabeth Key, Denise DeGregory, Gail Woon, Jill Cooper and Dante Carey. Stage Crew and Set Construction included Tyler Delva, Alex McHardy, Michael Hendley, Imani Roberts, Roland Webb, Camille De Gregory, Alexander Zago, Alicia Moss, Tai Moss, Chris Johnson, Chynna Smith and Liyah Smith.
