JUNKANOO COMMANDOS TO THE WORLD
Greetings from The Beautiful Islands of The Bahamas! We are the JUNKANOO COMMANDOS, a group of young professional part time artists of The Bahamas. We have been participating in our number one cultural festival (JUNKANOO) from we were all able to walk on our own. A small group of us came together to form the JUNKANOO COMMANDOS in 2007 for the purpose of showcasing and exporting our cultural expression of JUNKANOO, and developing a means by which to create job opportunities for some of the members of The JUNKANOO COMMANDOS that want to become FULL TIME ARTISTS. We are also continuing to create other opportunities for young artists within our communities in The Bahamas.
The JUNKANOO COMMANDOS have conducted workshops to professional artists in The Bahamas and around the world as well as workshops and presentations free of charge to children within the various communities of The Bahamas as a way of giving back to the community.
The art of JUNKANOO involves visual artists, musicians, performing artists, dancers and literary artists. Currently, the total number of Members in The JUNKANOO COMMANDOS is thirty five (35) and we are seeking to raise funds for our group to travel to NICE France in February of 2015 to participate in their Carnival to showcase the creative arts of JUNKANOO at the third largest Carnival in Europe. It is our goal to attract the attention of European and Global Carnival and Festival Directors to hire the group to perform and participate in their respective festivals and carnivals throughout the year, whereby creating opportunities for The JUNKNAOO COMMANDOS Artist.
The JUNKANOO COMMANDOS have been conducting fundraisers over the years to allow the group to travel to various festivals globally, to date our efforts have not been able to carry the entire contingent to any of the Carnivals or Festivals to truly give the impact that we have been aiming to achieve. We would like to start the 2015 year with the entire contingent making an appearance at the first Carnival of the year so that we can truly showcase what we deem THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH! Our fundraising efforts have only allowed us to carry a maximum of fifteen (15) members at any given time to any of the Carnivals or Festivals in 2014,
What We Need & What You Get
We THE JUNKANOO COMMANDOS are looking to raise forty thousand dollars ($40,000) for our troop to travel from Nassau Bahamas to Nice France to take part in THE KING OF MUSIC Carnival in February 2015.
The funds raised will go towards the purchase of airline tickets from Nassau Bahamas to Nice France for the entire contingent, the cost to travel half way around the world is a pretty costly venture and your assistance is greatly needed. It costs approximately $1,200 for each Junkanoo Commando to get to NICE. Personal funds of The JUNKNAOO COMMANDOS will be used for the production of their costumes that will be used while in NICE. The Carnival in Nice has assisted with providing accommodations, meals and ground transportation for the contingent upon their arrival and during their time in NICE in the past and we are anticipating that they will do the same again this year for the group as we were well received in 2014.

The Impact
We are reaching out to the global community to assist us in jumpstarting OUR DREAM of becoming FULL TIME ARTISTS! Our Mission statement in The Junkanoo Commandos from inception in 2007 has been To positively change the world, and empower persons through the creative arts of Junkanoo something that we have been doing with the lives of our members and those that are a part of our community outreach programs.

with your assistance and the needed exposure, we will be able to travel the world showcasing the number one cultural expression of The people of The Bahamas, and earn a living as the artists that we were born to be
We have been travelling around the world showcasing junkanoo over the years. We have done fundraising locally but to date have only been able to carry small contingents to showcase our creative arts. In 2014 we have travelled to Nice France, Edinburgh Scotland to their festival, Liverpool England to Broughaha festival and Virginia USA to Caribfest on our fundraising efforts. We would like to carry a full contingent to make a huge impact to the audiences
The largest impact from your help
The lives of several members of THE JUNKANOO COMMANDOS will be changed as their full time careers in the arts will be launched in 2015. Further opportunities to showcase and share the number one cultural expression of The Bahamas, and invite persons to attend our workshops and presentations in The Bahamas allowing us to fully create our careers.
Risks & Challenges
The challenges facing the Junkanoo Commandos at this stage is the possibility of not being able to secure sufficient funds for the entire troop to travel. We have used personal funds in the past to ensure that we get the exposure that we need at these various festivals and will do what needs to be done so that we remain visible in an effort to seek further exposure. This is the year for the careers of several Junkanoo Commandos to be launched and as a team we will make the sacrifices needed to ensure that tis happens. We will continue with our local fundraising efforts in addition to our global efforts.
We will carry the number of Junkanoo Commandos that we are able to afford through fundraising, we are hopeful that we are able to secure sufficient funds for the entire contingent to travel. We are hoping that we are able to purchase tickets before the prices begin to increase.
We have been travelling on our own steam in the past and will continue to help ourselves moving forward. We are also offering special rates locally for performances as an additional means of fundraising, by using a portion of the funds earned from these performances to go towards the nice project
