Nassau, Bahamas – The team that brought you the Bahamian Icon nominated plays “Sarah’s Wedding” and “New Rules of Sex and Dating” are ready to bring you comedy, drama and a whole lot of scandal once again, “Keeping up with the Boujees” is finally coming to Nassau! Keeping Up with the Boujees produced 4 dynamic full performances along with sold out shows in Freeport in June of this year. Critics admitted that they were blown away by the captivating characters and intriguing storyline of this play.
“I literally live through Kerel Pinder's productions!!! This play gave everything ....drama, raw emotion, life's ugly truths that we often disguise and all the political shade and the best comedy!! Kudos again and to all my favs on and behind the scenes”- Dequann Carroll.
Keeping up with the Boujees” is a political satire weaved through a scandalous family drama! The Bowen's are as Boujee as they come, but appearances are getting harder to keep now that their father is running for a Political seat
Keeping up with the Boujees was written and produced by Kerel Pinder and directed by Kenton Pinder. Alfred Anderson Lewis served as the creative director, while the team once again fell under the mentorship of former Broadway actress and singer Gloria McGlone. McGlone has played an instrumental role in the success of all three of Pinder’s plays. Pinder has stated that she trust McGlone’s keen eye for detail and values the wisdom she willingly shares every step of the way.
“I saw "Keeping Up With the Boujees" last evening. My congratulations to Kerel Pinder who has done it once again. There were many laughs interwoven with family intrigue and a fine cast of characters interspersed with cultural messages that resonate in our community, so proud to support this up and coming playwright.” - Ann Woodside – Bain
When asked about themes of the play, Pinder shared “Keeping up with the Boujees definitely addresses a lot of family issues. We see a lot of Bahamian stories of infidelity, sibling rivalry and jealousy told throughout this drama. The play also addresses controversial topics that we tend to shy away from talking about but are very aware are occurring in our community. The play is also sprinkled with some political satire that keeps the audience laughing but also leaves them thinking! “
