TORONTO, Canada -
The
group known as the Bahamian
Junkanoo Legends was formed in Canada with the desire to give fellow
Bahamians a taste of being back home through Junkanoo.
The group performed for Black History Month at the Royal Ontario Museum during an event called, Friday Night Live and happens a few times a year but this year and last they brought in February with an island theme.
The program event said, "Legends is a stellar group of renowned local and international dancers and musicians who have perfected hypnotic rhythms on a cacophony of goatskin drums, cowbells, whistles and horns. Imaginative costume designs compliment this spectacle to weave their own special magic with beautifully coloured crepe paper and cardboard."
Today, Bahamian Junkanoo Legends performs at a wide range of
cultural events throughout Canada.
