Results of the Freeport Players' Guild Twirp Awards, 2008-10 Seasons

Freeport, Bahamas - The Freeport Players' Guild held their annual Twirp Awards on June 12th at the Treasure Bay Casino. This year covered two seasons and the following plays: Girls of the Garden Club, Leading Ladies, Ain't Misbehavin', Broadway in Concert II and III.

Best Actor in a Comedy/Drama went to Eddie Llambias for Girls of the Garden Club, and Best Actress in a Comedy/Drama went to Vicki Stafford of Girls of the Garden Club. Best Actor in a Musical went to Alessandro Major for Ain't Misbehavin' and Best Actress in a Musical went to Dalia Feldman for Broadway in Concert II.  Best Director in  a Musical went to Gloria McGlone for Ain't Misbehavin' and Best Director in a Comedy/Drama went to Angela Hackman for Leading Ladies.

Entertainment included excerpts from past productions and live music for dancing by Steve Davies.

"...the name Twirp was simply a humorous award given affectionately to members of the Freeport Players’ Guild at the end of the season. It has since become the awards presentation that is the island’s equivalent of the Tony Awards."
