"Cathy's Dress" won the 2012 BoldBrush Painting Competition, USA and will be featured in the hardcopy book "Splash 13, Alternative Approaches: The Best Of Watercolor"

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - Well known Bahamian artist, Sheldon Saint has had a busy and productive year thus far. He was interviewed for an upcoming feature in Watercolor Art Magazine and will have this painting, "Cathy's Dress" featured in the hardcover book, Splash 13, Alternative Approaches: The Best Of Watercolor which will be published August 2012 and is said to feature "100 of today's masters of the medium...accompanied by insight from the artists..." Selections were made based from a competition held to solicit artist entries.

"There were 1600 entries for the Splash13 competition and the 'Splash' series showcases the very best of contemporary watercolor. I've always admired the artists' work, but I've never dreamed of being published in any of the series. I'm delighted that ''Cathy's Dress'' was chosen for Splash13!" said the artist who lives in Grand Bahama.

"The Splash books feature artists from more than a dozen countries and Sheldon is the first Bahamian we've had in the series." says Sarah Laichas, editorial coordinator of the North Light Books'  series. " Cathy's Dress is such a gorgeous and realistic piece — you can't help but fall in love with Cathy sitting on those beautiful stone steps."

"Sheldon's painting is exactly the type of piece that makes the Splash books so popular with collectors, aspiring watercolorists and art instructors that use the books as reference in the classroom. I'm really happy he submitted it for consideration."

Known for capturing the natural beauty and grace of every-day island-life, and bringing to the canvas the emotion and personality of his subjects, Saint is a self-taught artist who has been painting professionally in watercolor and oils for over twenty years. He is a member of the Grand Bahama Artists' Association and his work is frequently on display in group exhibitions and he's had many solo exhibitions as well. His artwork is purchased by art collectors as well as top corporations and resorts in The Bahamas. In 2012 he won the BoldBrush Painting Competition, USA~ Outstanding Watercolor for  ''Cathy's Dress''.

The book will be made available to purchase at the usual online book stores.
