Freeport, Grand Bahama - I would like to introduce you to the first group of young artists on the Island of Grand Bahama, who love and cherish their talents, and are willing to sacrifice time and energy to paint for a community service project. These  young people I am writing about, most are young men along with a few young women, who attend the Jack Hayward High School. They are all eleventh grade, Commercial Art students, under the instruction of Mrs. Alisa Streather-Robinson.

An opportunity was presented to Mrs. Robinson to engage the help of students to work on a collaborative painting project. Create a 'Polyptych' of  nine individual  paintings based on the theme 'Science'. 1. Felecia Trought, 2. Andrew Russell, 3. Sasha Roberts, 4. Emmanuel Smith, 5. Trevonte' Adderley, 6. Akia Rahming, 7. Andrew Thomas, 8. Asiyah Robinson, former student of Lucaya International, 9. Cameron Pennington. The students are excited with what they have done so far, and can't wait to see the finished work.

The sixteen paintings which will border the nine mentioned above, are being designed and painted by a former Commercial Art student of Jack Hayward High School, Adolphus Grant. Adolphus was challenged to not only depict the theme of science, but to display this theme in a variety of art styles. He plans to  mimic abstract art, cartoon art, realistic art, pop art, expressionistic and caricature art. So far, he is doing a wonderful job, and is a motivation to those students still enrolled in high school, as some one positive to emulate and surpass in talent one day!

Mrs. Robinson is also a member of the Grand Bahama Artists Association Scholarship Committee, which is a branch of the G.B.A.A., which was with the intention of mentoring young aspiring artists on the island of Grand Bahama. The committee donated funds towards this project to assist with the purchase of acrylic paints, so that the painting project will be able to come to fruition! The final 'Polyptych' is expected to comprise 25 stretched canvases of 12" x 12" each. We hope to show the public the finished piece by the end of summer! Well done so far everyone.
