A History of The Bahamas Through Maps by Todd T. Turrell was released on March 11, 2016. It tells the fascinating story of The Bahamas using beautiful antique maps as the backdrop. Maps from 1579 to 1865 are featured and discussed along with the history of the country around those time periods.

The book examines the geological history of The Bahamas as well as early explorers and settlers, the pirate era and British loyalists who populated many of the out islands after the American Revolutionary War. There is a chapter dedicated the boom the Civil War brought to the country, along with blockade running, and a chapter regarding prohibition with its significant impact to the nation's livelihood during that period.

Colorful modern maps along underwater and aerial photographs help describe the 20 major islands (Abaco, Andros, Cat Island, etc.) that make up the far reaching archipelago. Individual histories of these islands are included to complete their stories.

The author also uses various artistic exhibits and overlays to colorfully present the island country with its intimate links to England and America.
