Christ Centered Prayers in Rhyme by Rudolph McKinney

Freeport, Grand Bahama - On June 8th 2019, EARTHCARE volunteers joined with first time Book Author, Rudolph McKinney.  Stations were manned at Kelly’s in the morning and at Stop N Shop in the afternoon.  Mr. McKinney’s book entitled “Christ Centered Prayers in Rhyme” signed by the author were offered for sale.  Part proceeds for the sale of the books was generously donated to the Non-Profit Organization, EARTHCARE, an Environmental Education NGO (non-governmental organization) that works with youth on environmental issues affecting the country.  In addition, rosaries, bracelets and T-shirts were also available for purchase.  Prior to the Grand Bahama Book Launch, Mr. McKinney held a book launch in Bimini wherein he raised funds for the Art Department of the Louise McDonald High School in Alice Town.  Bimini’s Island Administrator, Cleola Pinder gave the key note address and sang.

The Official Grand Bahama Book Launch was held the evening of June 8th at the Kevin Tomlinson Academy.  The audience members heard about how Mr. McKinney came to write the inspiring book.  He presented EARTHCARE Founder, Gail Woon with the funds raised for EARTHCARE.  In addition, Ms. Woon gave the key note address.

Rudolph relates how the book came into being.  “I was frustrated with no noticeable resources around, just out of college, no job.  I found myself praying but also rhyming.  So, I began writing them down.  The book is setup in a way that you have space to write notes.  Before you read a prayer, pray and acknowledge God.  Read the prayer.  Write the thoughts that are inspired by the prayer.  Afterward, spend time and have a conversation with God.  That communion is more important that the prayers themselves.

I had been concerned about coral reefs and the environment before I met Ms. Woon at the Regency Theatre a few years ago when we were in a production together.  After that, I learned about her activities with youth and EARTHCARE.  I wanted to contribute to EARTHCARE which has been struggling for funding because EARTHCARE is actively involved in training and teaching the next generation about good environmental stewardship and its importance practically and theoretically.”

When asked if it was hard to get the book published, Mr. McKinney went on, “I did not know what to do. With advice from the Bimini Island Administrator, I was able to get my copyright with the US Library of Congress and now my book is available on Amazon as an e book and as a regular book.  Yes, I am going to write more books.  There will be 2 more Christ Centered books to come.”

EARTHCARE would like to thank profusely Rudolph McKinney Jr., his family and friends, Kevin Tomlinson, Kelly’s, Stop N Shop, EARTHCARE Volunteers:  Jahrin Ellis, Jonathan Smith, Miquel Sweeting and Micara Sweeting.
