Paradise Island, Bahamas - Bodybuilder turned Atlantean and now published author of a book, Leonardo “Nardo” Dean is advocating balance and a healthier lifestyle through his book, titled “The Trilogy of Fitness,” which focuses on specific topics and takes a wholistic look at wellness, targeting the physical, mental and spiritual.

“Each chapter focuses on ways you can elevate your tri-being to a higher state of wellness by using physical tools, mental disciplines and spiritual principles,” explains Nardo, a senior manager with responsibility for the Uniformed Services Department at The Cove and The Reef. Nardo joined the Atlantis family in 2007 with the opening of The Cove.

As a featured writer in both the Nassau Guardian and the Tribune daily newspapers, Nardo says he was encouraged by numerous people to put his experience and expertise in a book. A long time coming, The Trilogy of Fitness – endorsed by a number of persons, including Pastor Rick Dean and the late Dr. Miles Munroe – is comprised of those previous articles and then some.

“Just as it says on the book’s cover, it’s about optimizing the body’s potential, increasing spiritual awareness and maximizing mental ability and stamina… All of the articles are centered around wellness,” says Nardo adding, “and the beauty of it is that you don’t have to be a fitness buff or a gym rat to read it or understand it. The goal is total wellness and it can appeal to you no matter what area or level you are in life…”

He also shares that the easy-to-read book seeks to address stereotypes as far as fitness and wellness are concerned.

“For instance, there is a chapter called ‘Holy Aerobics.’ You have some people who feel they have to wear a thong to do aerobics or they can’t do aerobics because they are Christians and they don’t like disco music… it’s about striking a balance; how you may perceive things vs what the true nature may be. You don’t have to dress like that to do aerobics, and it’s not about the music. It’s about your motivation for going to the class.”

The book also teaches core values for life like the importance of discipline, being on time and priorities.

“The closer you are to achieving balance, the happier you are… the less stressed out you are…”

Nardo’s book can be found at Wong’s Bookworld, McCartney’s Pharmacy and most of the major gyms in Nassau. It can also be purchased on amazon.com or by placing an order through bodyonixbahamas@yahoo.com. Nardo says he hopes to soon be able to offer The Trilogy of Fitness as an e-book on Kindle and other tablet devices
