The U.S. Embassy’s Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Alex Sokoloff meets with the BCCEC Board of Directors on March 19.

Nassau, Bahamas - On Tuesday, March 19, the new Chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation (BCCEC) I. Chester Cooper and the Board of Directors visited the U.S. Embassy to meet with Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Alex Sokoloff and other Embassy officials to share the priorities and concerns of The Bahamas private sector.

The U.S. Embassy has consistently provided support to the BCCEC which has included sourcing and funding of expert speakers on matters ranging from entrepreneurship to access to finance for small and medium size businesses. The major initiative over the past decade has been the Embassy’s support for the annual Business Education and Development Seminar, which has included a number of top speakers from the U.S. including Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson and Steve Stoute, among others.

The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce is one of four independent chambers in The Bahamas including Grand Bahama, Exuma and Abaco, but is the largest and most representative of Bahamian business interests. Two years ago the ‘Nassau’ Chamber merged with the Bahamas Employers Confederation to establish The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation (BCCEC) and is now considered the voice of both the business community and employers throughout The Bahamas.
