Freeport, Bahamas -
Beauties @ Brunch moved to Grand Bahama last month to showcase the haute couture fashions carried by Cia Monet, the online clothing experience headed by Bahamian entrepreneur Patricia Chiatti. Her Beauties @ Brunch series incorporates the celebration of 50 years of the Suffrage Movement and at each event a woman is honoured.   The four part series also celebrates fashion, sophistication, professionalism and poise, by coupling epic beauty and fashion with premium venues, food and wine.

The Grand Bahama edition honoured Mrs. Geneva E. Rutherford
, educator and community builder of  Grand Bahama, who has contributed countless hours to help others.

Upon receiving her award, Mrs. Rutherford gave the following remarks,

“To be publicly recognized at any time in one’s professional life is a tremendous honour that few persons receive in spite of their efforts and the successes achieved.  I am humbled and most grateful to the Red Rose Ball Committee, Cia Monet and to you, Mrs. Chatti for extending such an honour to me as you seek to promote recognition of major issues affecting women and the principles of Bureau of Women’s Affairs. Please know that there are many, many other women on Grand Bahama who deserve this recognition for their personal sacrifices, contributions and efforts in building communities of this island."

"I am truly delighted to accept this honour.  I realize that it was primarily my efforts in the field of education which impacted the lives of so many persons over the past 41 years in the profession; 37 years being spent here on Grand Bahama at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels; serving in the various positions of teacher, school administrator, corporate trainer, instructor in the continuing education program and as part-time lecturer at The College of Bahamas Northern Campus.  Being allowed to serve a 5 year term as Vice-President of The Senate was a great national privilege."

"Over the past 14 years I have had the tremendous opportunity to join the corporate world and my work responsibilities has afforded me the privilege of being involved in the many philanthropic activities of The Grand Bahama Port Authority including its major corporate scholarship program, corporate charities and its support of the many civic, athletic, and community organizations on Grand Bahama island.  This has been a most rewarding experience."

"I am so grateful for all of my employment opportunities as each one has allowed me to reach out and touch the lives of so many people in so many ways.  I therefore thank all of my employers.  I especially thank my family and everyone who has supported me over these many years.  Most of all, I thank my mother,  Mrs. Doris Major, recently deceased, to whom I owe the greatest debt of gratitude for instilling in me such strong values, a great determination to overcome life’s difficulties and to use the vehicle of education to make a difference for myself and so many others.   I accept this award in her honour."

"Beauties @ Brunch Grand Bahama was  a great success and we cant wait to get back there next year when we honour another great woman of Grand Bahama," said Patricia Chiatti of Cia Monet and Beauties @ Brunch events. "We are halfway through celebrating 50 years of the Suffrage Movement of Women and have two more shows to go. We are excited about our next event in Abaco set for August 5th at the Abaco Beach Resort, Marsh Harbour where we will be honouring 6 women and 2 young ladies.  Then we move to the capital to pay homage to our very first female Bahamian Captains from Bahamasair on October 14th at the Rainforest Theatre."

Do you know a female from Abaco that deserves honouring? Email who, and why and the persons contact info (if possible) to patriciaechatti@gmail.com

Organizer wish to thank their event sponsors; New Image Beauty Supplies, Pelican Bay Hotel, and The Consulting Inc, Bristol Wines and Spirits, TheBahamasWeekly, com, Western Air, Bahamasair, Designs by Jennifer, Black Opal, and Nesbitt Rentals.
