Aliyah Lafrenier, a fourteen-year-old 5' 9" Canadian-Bahamian model made her runway debut at Vancouver Fashion Week in B.C., Canada. Aliyah recently returned to her birth country after growing up in The Bahamas, and is excited to be working in an industry she feels called to.
On Tuesday, Aliyah walked for Jennifer Somosa, a fashion designer and architect from Venezuela. On Wednesday, she walked for Noctex, a designer from Canada. On March 17th she walked for See Boo Sew by Jamie Marshman of the U.S.A., and Frempc Designs created by Cynthia Frempomaah, an African American of Ghanaian heritage.
Vancouver Fashion Week takes place at the Chinese Cultural Centre in downtown Vancouver, and is a 7-day event. The young model has secured other shows this week and will be walking on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Aliyah is currently unrepresented.
Vancouver Fashion Week serves as a gateway for designers who can’t show in the big events such as London, Paris, Milan and New York, and the same applies for aspiring models. Many young models, like Aliyah get their start at Vancouver Fashion Week.
