Nassau, Bahamas - Young Bahamians with loads of talent and determination to have their talents take them to the top, have joined together to present an event simply called "Fashion & Entertainment".  The event takes place this Friday, August 19th, 2011 at the Breezes ballroom from 8 to 11pm.

It's a fashion show that designer Jarressa Johnson is determined to make "different and down-home".  She has been working at the sewing machine night and day for months now, in order to present her handiwork to the public.  Her collection exudes true island-style and includes a lot of functional and classic pieces for a woman's wardrobe.  But Jarressa doesn't stop at designing garments.  She has an entirely separate collection of accessories such as necklaces, earrings, bracelets and adornments for the feet and ankles.  In addition, she will be presenting a line of bags, creating three collections that can be mixed and matched for various occasions.  All of her designs feature native Bahamian raw materials such as shells, seeds, stones and straw intermingled with fabric and other materials.

Rather than present her fashion show individually, Jarressa realized that there were so many talented young people around her that yearned to have opportunities to perform, so she called them all together.  The group consists of teenagers and young adults who will be displaying their artistry through various art forms such as singing, dancing, and drama.  Final selections created a group of entertainers who have what it takes to wow the crowd with their performing abilities.  Jarressa points out that all of the girls modelling in her show actually aspire to become models or are already getting exposure and have some experience in the field.

By banding together, they realized that they can do much more.  This is the first year of "Fashion & Entertainment", but plans are to make it an annual event and the performers are counting on the public's support to make that a reality.
