Set for
Saturday, October 22 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Silver Cove,
#49 Bahama Reef Blvd, Damask is a four-part wine tasting, fashion and
jewelry show organized to not only showcase the four local businesses
and provide entertainment, but part proceeds from the event will be
donated to the Cancer Association of Grand Bahama.
Sally Vardaoulis, of Silver Cove Events explained that the four
entities came together and decided that in addition to providing Grand
Bahama with a tasteful, entertaining showcase of the latest fashion by a
local Bahamian female designer, and jewelry to assessorize the outfits,
wine to complement and the event location – Damask is supporting a
charity in its fight against a disease that has touched the lives of
many Grand Bahamians, "whether directly or indirectly.
"So this is our way of getting of creating an event to not only
sensitize residents that there are locally owned businesses in the
community that can provide viable services, but to always sensitize them
of being more informed of the importance of getting annual check-ups,"
she added.
John Heath of John Heath Jewellers noted that the store will present
two top international brands representing the industry's most talked
about designs during Damask.
"The 'Marah Lago Larimar Collection' features the only gemstone to be
mined in the Caribbean and 'La Vie en Rose Pink Diamond Collection' the
most passionate and desired diamond on any woman's list," he said. "We
are proud to be a part of this year's Silver Cove event, Damask. This
is a wonderful opportunity to partner with Bristol Cellars and Hardour
Collection in bringing to Grand Bahama a night to remember."
Heath extended an invitation to the community to come, "and see the
many young talented Bahamians involved in what will be a spectacular
cultural event."
The Hardour Collection is an array of high-end fashion for both men
and women that was founded in 2007 by young Bahamian designer Anthea
Bul-lard, who too expressed her excitement at being a part of this event
to support the Cancer Association of Grand Bahama.
Bullard encouraged the Grand Bahama community to be a part of this
inaugural showing, which the group hopes to become an annual event.
"The fashion for Damask will feature both a couture collection and a
ready to wear collection, including dress shirts, gowns and cocktail
dresses," she shared, adding that for that night only, Hardour will have
an on-site boutique.
Vardaoulis said that in addition to the fashion and jewelry show
guests will enjoy live band entertainment provided by Kevin Tomlinson
and very exciting prizes. "Karen Ferguson-Bain will host the event and
so again we invite the community to get their tickets and enjoy Damask
... it's for a worthy cause."
