Vancouver Fashion Week celebrates its 25th season

Vancouver Fashion Week opened on March 16th to showcase the Fall Winter 2015 season, and over 50 models hit the runway during the gala opening event held at the Queen Elizabeth Plaza, as the audience got a sneak peek on what the next 6 days will have in store.

VFW has grown rapidly over the years, and is now in its 25th season. It's been a pinnacle event for emerging designers, not only in Canada but for designers around the world.

A statement was read from the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper congratulating the event on its 25th season, as well as a video clip of Vancouver's mayor, Gregor Robertson was shown where he officially opened the week, and thanked VFW founder Jamal Abdourahman for helping put Vancouver on the global fashion map.

Among the top returning designers is Noe Bernacelli of Peru, whose international style and exquisite designs have been greatly received by Vancouver audiences. He will be joined by Shravan Kumar of India who wowed the VFW crowd last season.

Also returning designer Hong Kiyoung (Seoul), who is widely recognized for his luxury streetwear, experimenting with silhouettes and colourful prints.

Yu, Allison Wonderland, Aniimiism, Artees Wear, Atsushi Nakashima, Atoz Clothing, Avenyth, Bench, Blushing Designs, Brunette Showroom, Connally McDougall, Covet, Crystal Commerc, Dervish Dubai, Eliza Faulkner, ENCIMA, Fesvedy, Gala Limon, García, Grama, Grandi’s Atelier, HansPohl, Haveney, Hong Kiyoung, ILOVECHOC, Jackson Rowe, JFG Designs, José Hendo, JY Kim, JUKOJulie, Kate Miles, Laurence Pirnay, LaSalle College, Magaly Guillen, Marko Feher, Michelle Lesniak, Nadia + Zehra, Narumi, Nasty Habit, Nika Tang, NIGHT X DAY,  Noe BernacelliOphelia Song, Rosey Couture, Quynn, Sara Armstrong, Scotch & Soda, Shravan Kumar, Silvia Heach, Sofia, Sunny’s Bridal Gallery, Teresa Farese, Theresa Chen, Vitamin A Swim, Vivienne Pash, WeSC & Deux Ex Machina, YKS by YongKyunShin, and Zuzana Hrubos.

Vancouver Fashion Week was established in 2001 by Jamal Abdourahman. Sponsors for VFW FW 15 include: Tentnology, LaSalle College, Loig's Music Lab, Universe and Skye My Berry Pie.
