Make A Short Film In One Day - Professional Filmmakers will support you!

The Nature Conservancy and the Bahamas International Film Festival invite YOU to make a short Film about the environment of our beautiful Bahamas!

Join our “GREEN REEL” competition and have your film shown to a large audience during our Festival, December 1 – 4, 2011.

The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) announces a new edition of the ‘GREEN REEL’ Film Program in cooperation with The Nature Conservancy. The Conservancy is sponsoring the ‘GREEN REEL’ competition for its third year to enable students to create documentaries that explore the environmental issues affecting The Bahamas.

BIFF invites your school to be part of the film program October 24 – 28. The Film Program is open to ages 10 and up. Each school can select up to 15 students to participate in the Program.

The topic the documentaries should focus on is the Coral Reef Ecosystem, the Bahamian community and Conservation. Filmmakers should explore how Bahamians interact with the environment and how changes in the environment can impact Bahamian communities.

Students are introduced to the latest in digital technology and receive expert instruction from leading trainers.  Working in all the different jobs on a film set (Actor, Director, Sound and Lighting, etc), children learn the essentials of making a film from pre-production to editing all in one day.

The ‘Green Reel” Film Program announcement was made by BIFF Founder and Executive Director Leslie Vanderpool begin_of_the_skype_highlighting      end_of_the_skype_highlighting, who said "BIFF is always looking for ways to encourage young Bahamians to showcase their talents through film.”

Eleanor Phillips, Director of the Northern Caribbean Office of The Nature Conservancy here in The Bahamas stated “We at the Conservancy want to explore nontraditional avenues to spread the word about our conservation work and encourage youth of The Bahamas to tell us, through film, how they want the environment of the country to be in the future...”
