Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - Saturday November 2nd, 2019 was an important day in the lives of four upstanding residents of Grand Bahama Island, it was the day that they were installed as Rotarians in the newly chartered Rotary Club of Grand Bahama. Emrick Kevin Seymour, Kyria Worrell, Martina Ferguson and Donna Christie-Ferguson were installed by District 6990 Governor Ray Williams. The well attended meeting took place at the Grand Bahama Yacht Club. Imparted were encouraging words from District Governor Williams on the importance of service above self and a mandate for Rotarians to seek like-minded individuals to join Rotary. The club’s president, Christine van der Linde expressed her elation for having four new members join the Rotary family and urged all members to love and support one another and always lend a helping hand to those in need when possible. The affair was an elegant Bahamian breakfast meeting which was also shared with the home for the elderly.  President Christine felt that although there is a crisis, in the midst of it all the hardworking dedicated members needed a pick me upper and decided to have the food catered by the ‘Better to serve you’ restaurant; she also emphasized Rotary’s commitment to patronize local businesses.

The newly installed members are as follows;

About the Rotary Club of Grand Bahama

The Genesis of the Rotary Club of Grand Bahama was conceived at a small kitchen table in the home of Christine van der Linde by Rotarians Christine, Rengin Johnson, Malvese Capron and Jackie Russell. The group expanded to a larger table in her home, then on into the Chamber of Commerce office. All along the way, the ladies were encouraged by immediate past District Governor Drew Monghan who, in tandem with Ligia Corredor of the Rotary Club of Miramar-Pines, were instrumental in making the Rotary Club of Grand Bahama a reality. The Rotary Club of Grand Bahama meet every other Saturday at the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce
