Resident of Grand Bahama Island, Rotarian James Sarles, a member of Rotary Club of G.B. Sunrise is in Sydney, Australia taking part in the Rotary International Convention. As part of that convention, the entire group participated in a historic event to raise  awareness on polio, while breaking two world records.

"I am excited to be part of history when we smashed two world records to raise funds and awareness about polio eradication." New records were broken on the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge when Sarles climbed the bridge with 340 Rotarians from around the world and waived 278 flags. It was covered on local and international news.

"We raised funds to immunize about 240,000 children against polio, which is a disease without a cure."

The two records which will go down in history are for having "the most people on the bridge" and one for "the most number of flags flown on it."

Mr. Sarles traveled to Australia accompanied by his wife, Marina Gottlieb.
