Nassau, Bahamas - In the spirit of World Rotaract Week observed March 11-17, celebrating 51 years of service, fellowship and community building, The Rotaract Club of East Nassau chose an innovated route by partnering with The Bahamas Marijuana Coalition to host our first Let’s Talk Marijuana open discussion. Over 50 young adults, both members, and nonmembers of Rotaract International attended the open meeting held Monday, March 11, 2019, at Smugglers, King Street 6:30-7:30 pm. Co-chair of the Bahamas Marijuana Coalition, Quinn McCartney shared his views on how the government’s interest in opening business prospects concerning marijuana and it’s potential for the economy.
Questions such as, what sparked the country’s interest in the marijuana industry, what timeframe could we look forward to with the rollout of the industry, how will this industry be regulated all echoed the attendee’s interest in the country exploring the market. Though it seems there is a long way to go, The Rotaract Club of East Nassau was excited to host this open discussion to build awareness of innovative avenues the country is taking. The Rotaract Club of East Nassau meets ever 2nd and 4th Monday 6:30 pm at Smugglers, King Street. All interested persons between 18-30 are welcome.
