Freeport, Grand Bahama - Presentation of the Most Courteous Driver of the Quarter Award-June 2014 was made at the weekly luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of Lucaya on Tuesday 15th July 2014 at the Ruby Swiss Restaurant.

At about 1:00am on Saturday May 17th 2014, a horrendous traffic accident occurred on the Grand Bahama Highway in the vicinity of the Old Freetown Farm, involving two vehicles: a Chevy Cavalier that was travelling west with five occupants ( four males and one female ) and a Chevy Cobalt that was travelling east with the lone male driver.

Both vehicles were totally demolished upon impact, with the Chevy Cobalt exploding into flames, killing the young male driver instantly.

The five occupants of the Cavalier, all sustained varying degrees of bodily injuries; four of them were transported in ambulances to the Rand Memorial Hospital by EMS personnel, while the other injured male was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle driven by Ms Katrina Carey of McCleans Town, who came by the scene of the accident.

As a result of this compassionate act on the part of Ms Carey, she was nominated as the" Most Courteous Driver of the Quarter-June 2014".

She was presented with an inscribed mahogany plaque, along with a gift certificate for a full tank of gasoline.
