Freeport, Grand Bahama -  At about 6:10pm on Saturday 18th January 2014 ( one of the coldest nights this year ), a visiting American couple on their honeymoon, were driving their rental car west along East Sunrise Highway, returning to Freeport from a visit to East End, Grand Bahama, when their vehicle hit a pothole in the road, resulting in the left front tyre blowing out.

The driver, not wanting to stop in an isolated, dark area, managed to make it down as far as the Lucayan Circle, where he pulled over onto the grass verge.

Shortly afterwards, Mr Cassius Bowe of Freeport, who was driving in that area, noticed the couple in distress and pulled over to assist.

He was able to replace the blown tyre, thereby enabling the young visitors to continue on their journey.

As a result of this considerate act on the part of Mr Bowe, he was nominated as the " Most Courteous Driver of the Quarter-March 2014."

He was presented with an inscribed mahogany plaque and a gift certificate for a full tank of gasoline.
