Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - Presentation of the "Most Courteous Driver of the Quarter Award-December 2014" took place at a recent weekly luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of Lucaya.

At approximately 10:30am on Monday, 15th December 2014, Mr Greg Smith of Yeoman Woods, was driving his Ford F-150 truck north along East Atlantic Drive near the softball field, when the engine shut off, leaving him stranded at the side of the road.

While trying to determine what the problem was, Mr Basil Pearce happened to drive by in his jeep and seeing the driver in distress, stopped to render assistance.

After diagnosing the engine defect, Mr Pearce drove Mr Smith to a facility where they acquired the needed parts, then returned to the disabled vehicle, where the engine was repaired and Mr Smith was able to continue on his journey.

As a result of this compassionate act on the part of Mr Pearce, he was nominated as the "Most Courteous Driver of the Quarter-December 2014."

He was presented with a gift certificate for a full tank of gasoline along with an inscribed mahogany plaque.
