NASSAU, Bahamas – Members of the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise in partnership with the Antiquities, Monuments and Museums Corporation and The College of the Bahamas held its 5th Annual Jingle Bell Jazz on December 4 at Collins House. "Rotary International is a service organization founded in 1905. In our club, Nassau Sunrise, we are proud of our 5th Annual jazz event where proceeds are earmarked for the College of the Bahamas Music Department and Hurricane Joaquin Relief Fund,” said President-Elect of Rotary Club Nassau Sunrise Pretino Albury. “This festive event featured tasty food inclusive of a jerk pit, sweet sounding music of Ambassah, upcoming youth artists of the College of the Bahamas Jazz Band and a silent auction while raising money for charity.”
Jingle Bell Jazz Co-Chairs, Director Frances Dean and Director Sophia Rolle noted that the silent auction was one of the anticipated highlights of the evening. Patrons were able to bid for items donated by Pandora at John Bull, John Business Centre, Mandara Spa and Aqua at British Colonial Hilton along with a myriad of selected paintings from local artists. “Selfless service and charitable giving is still alive in The Bahamas,” said Public Relations Director for Rotary Club Nassau Sunrise Dario Torelli. Torelli added that because of public support we have over the past 5 years donated to Autism, Breast Cancer, P.A.C.E., Bahamas, Laura’s Soup Kitchen, Great Commission Ministries and many others.
The Jingle Bell Jazz event is a staple on the Rotary Clubs of the Bahamas calendar attracting scores of Rotarians and the general public. This year’s event sold close to 300 tickets of which most were VIP tables ($1,000 each). “The Rotary Club Nassau Sunrise believes in the vision of District Governor Felix Bethel to move from ‘Success to Significance’ and will continue to align our community service projects and fundraisers for the highest positive social impact,” ended Rotary Club Nassau Sunrise president Alana McCartney. The Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise was chartered on May 8, 2001.
