Bahamas Bridal Show donut cake featured on ABC News

Nassau, Bahamas - Brides at the recent Bahamas Bridal Show had an forgettable and sugary treat. Something they may now wish to consider for their wedding reception, a glazed donut wedding cake.

The wedding cake, which feeds about 100 persons and made of 100 glazed donuts, with little chocolate flowers decorating the donuts took the collaborative efforts of two of the bridal show’s vendors, The Swiss Pastry Shop and Dunkin’ Donuts.

The glazed donut wedding cake, the inspiration of a Dunkin’ Donuts manager, was such a hit after its was featured on the company's Facebook page that it was featured on ABC News Blog’s Lifestyle page.  

The blog cited Manfred Ginter, son of Mae and Fred Ginter, owners of the bakery as saying that “It’s a new idea when most people think of wedding cakes they don’t think of donuts.  I think it’s a great. It’s very unique.  A lot of people love donuts.  The designs that you can come up with are pretty awesome. We researched it beforehand…so we just kind of incorporated a combination of different designs.”
