                                                Mark knowles telephone Interview

The Bahamas - Event organizers have been busy preparing for the upcoming annual Mark Knowles Celebrity Tennis Invitational from December 3rd to 5th, which will include an Exhibition open to the public on Saturday, December 5th starting at 3pm at the National Tennis Centre,

 

Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre .  A kid's clinic will also take place the same day.

The Bahamas Weekly News Team caught up with Mark (via the phone) and you can listen to Mark talk about his upcoming event where all proceeds will go to aid local children’s charities such as The Cancer Society, the Sassoon (Bahamas) Foundation for Pediatric Heart Care, The Special Olympics, The Association for the Physically Disabled, The Chance Foundation and the Mark Knowles Tennis Scholarship Fund. To date over $400,000 has been distributed to various charities.  The aim this year is to increase total donations to $500,000.

Mark shares how it inspired him as a young kid to see Bjorn Borg, and how this year he is so excited to have Andy Roddick participating. He encourages all tennis enthusiasts, young and old, to come out and enjoy the Exhibition. In this interview he also shares how he felt to win the Wimbledon mixed -doubles with tennis partner, Anna-Lena Groenefeld, who will also be attending the event in The Bahamas.


Mark also personally thanks the sponsors of the event: Atlantis, Lombard Odier Darrier Hentch, The Ministry of Tourism, The Balmoral, Pictet Bank & Trust, Serenity Point, The Bahamas Weekly and all other sponsors who have contributed to this worthwhile cause.

Marks leaves for London this Wednesday, November 19th. There is only one major tournament remaining in the 2009 tennis calendar, and it begins in London on November 22 and is supported by Wimbledon. The Barclays ATP World Tour finals at the O2 Arena will bring together the best-eight performing male singles players and doubles pairings, of which Mark will be  participating.


He ends the interview with words of inspiration to the youth of The Bahamas . The event also assists in providing scholarships to worthy children.

About the Mark Knowles Celebrity Tennis Invitational: The Mark Knowles Celebrity Tennis Invitational is a Charity Event hosted by Mark. It was first held in 2001. The event is held in December at the National Tennis Centre in Nassau (New Providence), Bahamas. The purpose of the event is to raise money for various charities, such as The Sassoon Pediatric Heart Foundation, The Cancer Society, The Association of the Physically Disabled, The Childrens Emergency Hospital, The Boy Scouts of Bahamas, The Special Olympics and scholarships for promising junior tennis players.  Visit: www.markknowlestennis.com
