Nassau, Bahamas - Sidney Collie, Chairman of the Free National Movement (FNM), issued the following statement on PLP Chairman Roberts’ comments at the PLP meeting on Thursday:

“I find it hilarious that the ‘Delusional’ Chairman Roberts’ continues to try and deflect from getting his Government to answer the real questions that Bahamian people are demanding.Instead of asking his members to answer the simple questions that we put forth on how they are running this government he deflects and refuses to address these questions.”

“On Thursday, the PLP ratified three more candidates who are sitting Members of Parliament and therefore should be able to simply answer these questions that need to be answered. If Delusional Roberts is not able to get his Members of Parliament to answer these important questions then who can?”

“Once again I will put forth these five simple questions which Bahamians deserve answers from this PLP Government:

1) On Monday Minister Nottage described the multiple killings this weekend as ‘unusual’ even though there has been a record setting 514 murders under this PLP Government during this term in office – does Minister Nottage have a concrete plan to combat the rising murder rate in the country, upon which the Government can act.”

2) For more than four years the PLP has made promises regarding Baha Mar – from when it will open to creating 5,000 good paying jobs – all amounting to a lot of empty rhetoric and broken promises - can anyone in the meeting truly tell the people when or if Baha Mar has a new owner and if they will complete the project and get it open without millions more in taxpayer money being spent on it?”

3) The PLP Government recently flaunted rules and ignored the law as they focused on enriching themselves instead of filing their required financial disclosure – have all the members finally submitted their financial disclosures?”

4) The recently released 2015 Country Report on Human Rights Practices showed that the PLP Government’s ineffectiveness at implementing corruption laws had allowed officials to engage in illegal practices with impunity – are any of the members willing to implement new anti-corruption laws or are Bahamians going to have to wait for the FNM Government to finally reign in the out of control corruption in the government?”

5) During the recent Referendum there was a major delay in releasing the results that showed that this Government failed and still no one has been held responsible for this terrible delay - who is finally going to be held responsible for the delay in announcing the results from the Referendum?”
