Nassau, Bahamas - Sidney Collie, Chairman of the Free National Movement (FNM), issued the following statement on FNM Candidate Howard Johnson withdrawing his nomination for the South Beach Constituency.

We in the FNM are saddened that due to urgent family issues Howard Johnson had to withdraw his name as the FNM candidate for the South Beach Constituency in the upcoming 2017 General Elections. However the FNM family fully supports Howard's decision to give up his opportunity to serve the people of South Beach as their member of parliament in order to take care of his family needs. We in the FNM believes that family comes first and therefore stand behind his decision 100%.

We thank Howard for his service to the party in carrying the party’s banner in the 2012 general elections in Central & South Eleuthera, and in working tirelessly on behalf of the party in South Beach.

We look forward to Howard being a part of the 2017 election campaign to ensure the victory over Perry Christie and the PLP.
