Collie asks Bahamian to sign petition to fire PLP Cabinet

Sidney Collie, Free National Movement (FNM) Chairman, issued the following statement regarding the petition in circulation to fire Cabinet members Jerome Fitzgerald, Allyson Maynard-Gibson and Shane Gibson:

“Bahamians are disgusted by the PLP’s corruption that rivals even the most lawless nations.  Although Minister of Education Jerome Fitzgerald and Attorney General Allyson Maynard-Gibson continue to lie amidst accusations regarding conflicts of interest and using their positions of power for personal gain, the Prime Minister remains silent.  Despite Shane Gibson being paid by eccentric foreign billionaire Peter Nygard, the Prime Minister refuses to clean house.  This can only indicate his stamp of approval on corruption.

“While the Prime Minister continues to ignore the peoples’ concerns, Bahamians refuse to stand silently by and allow these corrupt acts to go unnoticed and unpunished.  Acting as a voice for the people, the FNM is circulating a petition demanding that Perry Christie do his job, address this corruption issue and fire these corrupt cabinet ministers.  We encourage all Bahamians to sign this petition.

“The sad fact is that the Prime Minister appointed these persons to his cabinet and they are sullying the good name of The Bahamas.  Now that their corruption has been unmasked we expect him to do his job and to fire them.

“I ask Bahamians everywhere to join us in demanding accountability by going to firedem.com. and signing the petition.  Together we will send this inept and corrupt government out to pasture”.
