Recently the Minister of Tourism lamented, “it’s disappointing, very disappointing…that distinguished men, which really bothers me, distinguish men, of our society who have not lived up to an obligation”.

The Bahamian government through the Ministry of Tourism sponsored the sum of $650,000.00 to the Caribbean Muzik Festival that was scheduled for October 2015, but the Festival never happened.

The good Minister has insisted that politics has no place in the sponsoring of the festival. I am certainly not going to argue with the Minister but can the good Minister let the Bahamian people know which of his PLP/FNM colleagues were part owners of the Caribbean Muzik Festival. Are these the people he referred to as “distinguished”? Was the sponsored money given during the time his PLP/FNM colleagues were part owners? Does the Minister expect to get the peoples’ monies back?

The fact of the matter is that we, the Bahamian people, as we always do, will have to pay this money back. The good Minister is encouraged to take whatever steps necessary to recoup the Bahamian people’s money and bring those who took it to justice!
