As the leader of the DNA, I write to encourage all DNAs to support the peaceful demonstration sponsored by Raising Awareness Bahamas Landfill (RABL) on Sunday the 10th April 2016 at 4pm. The demonstration will be at the IDB-IIL Annual Meeting at Bahamar Convention Center. The starting point will be at the Bahamar Straw Market, opposite the Melia Hotel. RABL has requested that ALL persons wear black clothing and a medical mask. It has been requested that you bring your placards with dump photos and/or a protest statement.

I would also request all PLPs and FNMs to support this demonstration. Let me stress that this is not a political demonstration but a demonstration for and on behalf of ALL Bahamians and those who have a right to be here.  The dump fires have been causing health problems for many persons, environmental concerns, educational disruptions, business closures, home evacuations, visitors’ complaints and, put simply, it is the cause of a miserable existence in New Providence!  The government has no solution whatsoever for the remediation of the Bahamas Landfill, so we as citizens, all of us, MUST come together to do our part to remedy this vexing problem! Indeed we must act now for the sake of our health and the future of our children.   We must all take a stand and I believe that this peaceful demonstration would be the beginning of bringing resolve to this long outstanding issue.
