FNM Acting Chairman Responds to Bradley Roberts

The Chairman of the PLP, Mr. Bradley Roberts, should know by now that no amount of personal or political attacks can rattle me or cause me to lose focus on the critical issues facing the Bahamian people and the inability and failure of the PLP to provide the relief that they promised while they were in opposition.

I would also like to advise Mr. Roberts that both my parents and teachers taught me a long time ago to respect my elders and those that are in authority; so I have no interest whatsoever in engaging in gutter politics with senior individuals in our community even if they are in a different political organization.

As the Acting Chairman of the FNM Mr. Roberts suggested that I should be recommended to the Guinness Book of Records. But yet, he has to explain or make commentary about his personal record of being the longest serving back bencher in the history of The Bahamas; serving in that capacity for nearly two decades.

Further, I also asked Mr. Roberts to tell the Bahamian public why the former Prime Minister never demonstrated that he had any confidence in his ability by promoting him to serve his Cabinet. Certainly this is an easy question Mr. Roberts can answer for the Bahamian public. Having ignored this question Mr. Roberts may be sending the signal that he was either incompetent, unworthy or not fit for the job.

Secondly, one has to wonder why Mr. Roberts totally ignored the second question that required a very simple and honest answer. Certainly, the public would wish to know if the matter of sexual misconduct that was before the police has been resolved. If it is then what is wrong with saying so? I note with interest how the Chairmen of the PLP continue to make commentary about Former Chairman Michael Pintard, and the leader of the FNM, Dr. Hubert Minnis, and he has no difficulty advising them about what they should say or do to the police. But I again ask why he is silent about his encounter with the police?

The Free National Movement will continue to remind the public that the PLP has failed miserably. They continue to make promises that cannot be fulfilled.  In the face of high unemployment, the PLP continues to boast of creating thousands of jobs. They promoted Urban Renewal as the solution for crime but the murder rate is the highest in our history and Bahamians are being gunned down ferociously on our streets. Ministers in the government are invading our email boxes and reading them in the public without our permission. Under the PLP our nation is for sale again. But the PLP is in this state of hopelessness and appears not to care.

So I urge the Chairman to answer those two simple questions and tell how his government intends to make The Bahamas a better place to live, work and play.

We expect no deflection, no sleaze, and no personal attacks, take this opportunity to inspire every Bahamian to take our beautiful island to a higher level.
